What is general civil litigation?

There are some categories of litigation which are disciplines in their own right, for example divorce, personal injury and employment law. Robinson Allfree can help with all of these further information can be found in the relevant sections of the site. Then there are all the cases that cannot be pigeon holed – those are general civil litigation or civil disputes.  

The Disputes Team deals with wide ranging disputes including building disputes, disputes over land; previous cases have even included a dispute over a ship in Ramsgate Harbour!

Every client is different and every case is unique. We enjoy working with individual clients and establishing what they want to achieve and how best to go about it.  

We are comfortable with issuing Court proceedings, but that will not always be the answer. The current trend is towards “alternative dispute resolution” (ARD). Mediation in particular is a process whose time has definitely come. Whatever the way forward, you will know that we are fighting your corner hard with your best interest in mind.  

Funding of cases can sometimes be a concern. Many clients find they already have legal expenses insurance in their household or motor insurance policies.  

We will always be happy to see you for a ½ hour initial advice and in most civil litigation cases we are happy to work on a fixed fee basis. In some cases, such as personal injury, we may be able to see you without charge.
